After a long weekend of cleaning my long organizing quest is finally winding to a close. I can move around without tripping over boxes and it's sadly refreshing. To celebrate I hung a few bits of art that I never got around to displaying for a quick living room makeover.
Before:
The painted "squares" were from me testing to choose the best color for the walls. I'm going with the blue one and I'll paint the space when I have more time to dedicate a day to it. I can't wait, these walls desperately need color and the paint's already been purchased. (Kind of wishing I went with a bright green color now, though- something less boring that grayish blue).
After:
The tall book shelf kind of messed up the balance of the space, replacing it with a shorter one makes the room flow better. This entire arrangement is merely temporary until the paint goes on the walls and things get arranged (and RE-arranged).
The living room doesn't feel "right" yet but I'll figure it out. I also need to properly mat and frame my favorite childhood posters, my "classic" Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one and my Transformers the Movie (animated 1986) Poster. And I need a new couch, the sheet on top hides some irreparable damage...
With better color and "flow" the "living room" will hopefully come alive. Here's the view of it from my "dining room" (doubles as the "craft room") I love the light from the "day light bulb" I got yesterday- I need to replace all the ugly yellow lighting in the house with this one!
I'll post more pictures when the room is painted and the layout has been edited some more. With the french doors in the middle of the room it's a challenge to arrange the furniture in a way that makes sense!

Ahhh...it's SO nice to get stuff hung on the walls. I know I never feel like I truly LIVE in a space until the walls are done. Too bad it often takes YEARS!

How cool is that. As a mom of 2 boys I know all about furniture that wears clothing lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm just like you. A room feels right when it feels right. Until then I'm always trying to figure out how to change it around to create a good flow of energy. I love your choice of artwork.

ReplyDeleteLooks great! Like the color for the walls. We moved into our house over a year ago, and I still don't have everything hung on the walls. I can be quite indecisive;) Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet comment. It does feel good to have those projects completed!
