There's no high like finding unique paintings, posters, and art prints for pocket change at thrift stores. The following fun art finds are from my Epic Thrift Haul to End all Hauls.
I excitedly snatched up this pin-up girl print for $2 at the Betty Griffin House Thrift Store. I love the Barbarella-style retro gun and robot design. It might add mat but it's nice framed as is and pairs well with my sexy Godzilla toy (from a Goodwill, $1)
I have a bit of an obsession with miniatures and have been crafting my own in shadow boxes on the side like an insane miniatures nerd, so I couldn't resist these small ones that were $1.99 each. The cute retro Japanese cups and creamer cup were $1 each.
The mysterious "Cat Library" painting was my favorite find of the weekend. It was $1.99. Each of the novels is a "kitty' spin on a classic. (Instead of the Canterberrry Tales it's the Caterberry Tales.) It has an armature unpolished look which I love, there's so much life in "bad art" and scribbles.
The two retro thermoses and all of the books pictures are from my Epic Thrift Haul to End all Hauls, the owl bust was a $1 estate sale find. This painting will hang above the "Hallway Library" I'm working on.
Small Mid Century Modern kitchen hanging, .25 cents from the Thrift Store!

Wow! I want to go to your thrift stores! I've found some amazing books at thrift shops but haven't found anything else that was too exciting, even though I go just about every week. I think that's probably because I know a lot about books, but not much about most of the other items. None of our local shops sell toys, so I won't be finding a Godzilla (sigh).
ReplyDeleteNo toys in thrift stores?! That's a damn shame! Surely your local flea markets have some retro toy goodness?
