I broke my temporary thrifting ban and did a little bit of thrifting with a pal who needed clothes for a fashion photoshoot. I came home with a gorgeous boat cup (pictured below) and a dress for work, so I didn't do too bad at controlling my thrifting impulses!
[Available for sale here, although I almost want to keep it...]
Instead of ample thrifting, I spent time on opening a Thrift Core Online Shop! I've been receiving e-mails and comments asking to buy items from my Thrift Hauls and other areas of the website. After shipping out three items, I felt like it was time to open up shop again!
Check back often, I'll be updating it with plenty of vintage goodies all the time. I tried to keep the prices as low as possible and included shipping with the prices for ease.
Remember, when you Shop Thrift Core and Advertise on Thrift Core you're directly supporting one little writer (this website is not run by a team, it's just me!) and helping her make this website as informative and beautiful as possible.
The more I make from advertising and my shop, the more time I can afford to invest in Thrift Core! If that's not reason enough, you also get amazing colorful vintage bits for your home!
Special Promotion Time: To Celebrate the Grand Opening, used the promotional code "robotexplosions" to receive 10% off your entire order! The offer is for this week only, so get shopping!
See Something You Want? If you see anything in photos on this blog you want, it might be for sale. e-mail me and we'll talk about it.

The shop looks great! You sure know how to pick great stuff! Love the needlework owl:)
ReplyDeleteYour store looks just lovely! Can you tell me about Storeenvy? I'm try to find something easier than selling through a blog. It was far too confusing with so many people wanting one item and not having a proper check out. Love that ET bag. Also on each item, the Availability has to the right side Sold Out in light gray. Does this mean your entire store is sold out since each item has this next to it? If it isn't sold out does it say Buy? Very excited for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Selena! My pal recommended it to me, he said it was "free" and that's all it took for me to jump on it. :)
ReplyDeleteI just set it up last night for the first time, so I still need to figure out the details. I love that it was easy to set up and upload the pictures. It's tailor-made for social networking, too.
Night Owl: Me too! That's why I couldn't price it any lower, I kind of want to keep it :) But I'm out of wall space!
ReplyDeleteI dont think you should stop thrifting ever~ You always find the coolest stuff. I want to go with you! ;)

Selena: Oh, and thanks for letting me know about the "sold out" issue. The items are automatically set to have "0" in stock. I quickly changed it to "1" in stock each to fix that.
ReplyDeleteStoreenvy.com is a positive experience so far.
Lindsay: I wish you could come with too :) I'd love to constantly find amazing thrifted bits, but they'd have to remove my skeletal remains (trapped under hoarder debris) from my cluttered apartment...
ReplyDeleteSo much good stuff on there and I'm pretty sure I had those sheets when I was little! haha. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteJessica: I have so many pals who had those same sheets. Ah, memories...
ReplyDeleteAw congrats!!! I bet you will do extremely well with your new store. I want the E.T. bag, coooooooool!
ReplyDeletei love that mug too and the farside mug made me laugh out loud. great shop!
ReplyDeleteThe store looks great, Van! I too will be curious to hear about your experience with Store Envy. Been shopping around for a different online store platform that doesn't have as many steps as Etsy. You said this was relatively simple when it comes to posting items?
ReplyDeleteDhamma: The bag can be yours ;) I really love the colors on it.
ReplyDeleteAngelika: Glad it make you laugh, my collections always inspire smiles from people, it's all goofy bits.
Parsimonia: I like that it's free and it has less steps than Etsy to set up an item. It's very easy and even has features that help you be an organized reseller (like prompting you to make an item/sku number, which is always a good idea, and easy analytics for tracking your traffic).
ReplyDeleteA big con is that there are far less users and shoppers than what Etsy has, so it'll be up to you to promote it! I'll keep everyone updated on whether it works out or not.
That's great you set up an online shop! I'm curious about storenvy as well, since never heard of it before. If they don't charge membership or take a cut of sales, then I guess they plan to survive off advertising through the socialnet marketplace then? I'm a little skeptical, since have seen these shop aggregators come and go in past.. but gonna check it out to see.
ReplyDeleteA La Modern: Its definitely not something I'm looking to use for the long run. I want to switch back to Etsy, but only after I have time to brainstorm on a good theme, take good pictures, write good tags, get organized..
ReplyDeleteSoreenvy seemed like a safe place to experiment: fast and easy!
yay! your shop it open! that is so exciting! you have a fantastic eye!
ReplyDeletexo,

Woohoo!! Good luck Van. Willhop over and have a look!

Never stop thrifting - you have such great finds. Ooooh your shop looks fantabulous too - if only you were in the UK :( I love the owl ... but with shipping and then import tax I just can't buy from the US at the moment :(
ReplyDeleteLove the shop! Everything looks amazing. I think it's going to be a smash hit! Your style and taste are spot on, which is reflected in everything you do. I know I'll be keeping an eye on it! I'm set up on Etsy right now, but I'm looking forward to hearing more about storenvy too. Well done, Van!
ReplyDeleteCB and Miss P: Thank you! :)
ReplyDeletePolly: I feel ya there, the prices to ship between us just can't be justified these days! Ouch!
Flo: Thank you! The more I create, the more I realize I have a distinct colorful/animated/graphic style inspired by cartoons and comic books!
You're better off sticking with Etsy because it has more shoppers and traffic. I wanted to try Storeenvy for the ease, the price (free!) and to experiment.
Hey Van, I've got four of those mugs! Blue, mustard, green and brown! I use one to hold our toothbrushes and rotate them every time I clean the bathroom. I have a bloggy friend in the UK who has the same mugs too...it's a small world hey. Now to check out your shop!
ReplyDeleteYAY on the shop. Looks super cool!
ReplyDeleteI only sell on Ebay and keep thinking about setting up on Etsy but am so hesitant :)
Kylie: Four of the boat mugs? I'd love to see those!
ReplyDeleteSraikh: Stick with what works for you ;) No need to jump ship without good reason.
Congrats on the new shop! I'll be anxious to see how you make out with storeenvy. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love that e.t print, I'm pretty sure that their value increased over the years.
