Vintage Tool Boxes! I already hinted at what I'm going to do with vintage tool boxes in a past post. For now, I'm scooping any delicious ones I find with some nice patina and texture. Bright red-orange is my favorite color, so I love these two.
Toys-up-the-Wazoo: I'll be back to making fun art from my toys as soon as possible. Until then, when I find unique toys for a good price they must be mine!
Vintage Playing Cards: I'll post some fun craft tutorials involving vintage cards soon. Until then, my eye is always peeled for them.
My thrifted collections are coming along nicely. I'll have to share a new thrift list soon, I'll be hunting for a lot of supplies and bits around the house (like chairs my friends don't fall out of!) and for the Thrift Core Brick and Mortar shop too!
The hunt for store supplies has already extended to curbsides and dumpsters! I love free things. I'll have to show you my lucky curbside finds next!
What Are You Hunting for right now?
i love vintage playing cards. i see them often with cards missing so i generally don't buy them. i am always looking for MCM chairs, wooden candlesticks and white or orange pottery.
ReplyDeleteDrew: Somehow I've been lucky to find 5 sets with all the cards. I'm using mine for tags, displays, and crafting so I'd buy them with missing cards.
ReplyDeleteI am loving old folding yard sticks and after a year I still can't get enough globes.
ReplyDeleteAngela: I'm a sucker for globes, but I resist unless they're vintage or very special. I love vintage teaching things of all kinds so I love folding yard sticks too. And yard sticks. And... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those tool boxes are incredible! I mean you always see the black and green ones, but never a pink and orange, great spotting!
ReplyDeleteInterested to see what you do with the cards!
Alyssa: I love the bright ones with patina. They're irresistible.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm really 'collecting' anything, but on my last trip, i found the most wonderful bas relief wood carving/painting. LOVE it. if i found more, i'd probably be drawn to them after finding this beauty.
ReplyDeletePam: Do it! :) I'm going to instigate that collecting bug. You'll love the relief wood craving/painting collection displayed on your walls. Seriously, that find sounds amazing. Do you have a photo to share?
ReplyDeleteI am loving those toolboxes! I am obsessed with depression glass. My mom collects a certain pattern but I love to find random assortments. I used to be a housewares pricer at a thrift shop, so I know my stuff, which makes it a lot easier to figure out whether I'm getting the real deal......and whether it's a GOOD deal ;)
ReplyDeleteYour collection of planters are so cute! I've been getting into planters, too, because my house is turning into a jungle!
ReplyDeleteMrs. Miscellanea: That's incredible that you know exactly whether or not you're getting the best deal. I LOVE your profile photo, btw. Can't wait to check out your site, too :) !
ReplyDeleteHey Dabito! I love your jungle of a home filled with beautiful, healthy succulents. I want mine to me like yours someday...(soon)!
ReplyDeleteI love the planters. I have a few stored away and when we get moved in a few months I plan on using them. I've been buying baby clothes for my niece. She's have a baby boy in a few weeks and we've been able to buy lots of nearly new baby clothing for cheap! I also made a crib set from thrifted sheets. I've been collecting vintage sewing stuff and toys too. Some of it I plan on reselling eventually.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, i really shouldn't be collecting anything as i am running out of room but i love crocheted blankets!
ReplyDeletexo,

i have an Agatha Christie collection. She published over a hundred books (some were published under two different titles) and i need about a dozen more to have the complete collection. it's fun going through book bins at thrift shops with my list and finding that rare copy that i haven't found anywhere else. once i get them all, i'm going to start hunting for rare editions.
ReplyDeleteTYRaines: Thrifting for kid's clothes is so satisfying, you can find TONS of baby supplies brand new, tags still on! Since kids grow so fast...
ReplyDeleteCB: My personal collections are on-hold now due to lack of space too. I hunt for practical bits and things to sell now ;)
angelika: That is so awesome! I admire your tenacity.
ReplyDeleteI luv the tool boxes <3 Im obsessed with my polaroid collection so I need to get me another one [collection that is, but i wouldn't mind if it was a polaroid too :)] lol
ReplyDeleteI love old planters - annoyingly they're a rare find in the UK!
ReplyDeleteMiss Lou: I need to get into collecting cameras one day, but for now my list goes far beyond this post ;)
ReplyDeleteJessica: That's odd! I hope your luck turns around and you find some soon-- sometimes that happens!
I really want a vintage toolbox since right now my tools are just sitting on a shelf. those are so pretty, kinda ironic considering they are for such a "manly" purpose.
ReplyDeleteI am collecting vintage suitcases right now and vintage sewing books
Melina: I REALLY needed one for my tools, too. I still can't find my damn hammer ;)
ReplyDeleteWe've been really into hunting for 50s and 60s wooden toys recently!
ReplyDeleteI would really like a good ceramic, bright colored mid century lamp. All the ones around here have been dark drabby wood or amber glass. I've been liking tarnished silver plate items, and vintage tupperware. I've become obsessed with vintage tupperware, orange and green.
ReplyDeleteLove all your collections, esp. the planters and playing cards. I never seem to see good planters like those in the thrift stores. I have been lucky enough to find vintage playing cards whilst trash picking. Still in original lucite boxes. I'm looking to complete a particular set of Japanese stoneware mugs. Each has a different stylized flower and an insect. There are poppies, ladybugs, daisies, bees, asters, etc. Been looking for years.
