As a gardener, I'm a sucker for vintage planters. I can rarely resist scooping them up when I find them. I've showed off my collection of McCoy pottery planters, but not these remaining quirky ones from my antique store booth. They Include:
A vintage car (!), Donald Duck, two mallards, lamb, bear, sleeping dog, orange vintage phone.
I'll be filling my planters and adding them to the antique store booth soon as fun Christmas gifts, keeping my favorites for house plants. Some of these will probably get a fresh coat of paint to spruce them up. I love collecting vintage and noticing patterns in what I collect over time! (And curating a line, too!)
What do you collect while you thrift?
Those are so sweet, I bet you sell out quick!
ReplyDeleteChelsea: I hope so! We'll have to wait and see!
ReplyDeleteYeh, I'm a sucker for planters too. Can't forget art glass, pottery or transistor radios either. Oh, how could I forget, lamps too!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the linens. I have to pass often for because they aren't in good shape...but when I find a great tablecloth, coverlet, or set of napkins, I have to have it!!
ReplyDeleteMelissa B: All awesome things to collect, I approve :)
ReplyDeleteTLee: Those are all on my to-find list now, too!
Planters are one of the only things I keep for myself & they rarely make it to my Etsy shop.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble passing up vintage children's books (the tattier the better) & other ephemera, matryoshkas, linens & sewing notions.
Poppy: All great things to collect :)
ReplyDeletePlanters are so cute and there are so many awesome styles out there in vintage land, who ever has room for them all, I wish I did :)
ReplyDeleteHello from Ana's Archive Dive
ReplyDeletethat IS a mighty fine planter collection you have there...it is always fun to have a certain something you have your eye out for
I enjoy old cutlery (for altering)along with lots of other vintagey items...I like the cheap broken bits for mixed media creating :)

That orange phone planter is AWESOME! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteOooh, the orange telephone one is great. There has been a something similar at one of the thrifts here for awhile, but it doesn't look nearly as great as that one. Maybe because it's white? IDK.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time passing up cookbooks. At first I would buy everyone I found, but now I look for more unusual ones. I love the retro graphics and photos, just wish I had time to try more of the recipes.
ReplyDeleteVictoria: They can be addicting to collect, there's so many~
ReplyDeletePatty: I love making mixed media masterpieces ;) You can find the pieces for free!
Sir Thrift-A-Lot: The orange telephone is a favorite, I may hang on to it a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteJolene: I'm sucker for them too, the retro illustrations are beautiful. I have a collection that I'm going to work on selling-off when I get back from vacation :)
Oooh! How adorable!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I thrift, I couldn't resist going to the vintage books section. I usually end up buying a book or two. Good thing they're not too expensive!
Blessy: I love vintage books, too. I have a weakness for too many things, clearly...
