Thrift Haul: The Sexiest Vintage You've Ever Seen + Turtle Surprise

This weekend I embarked on a Thrift Store Adventure up-and-down Jacksonville's Beach Boulevard. I intended to ransack all of the stores on the lengthy road, but had to stop after two stores. The high thrift store prices assaulted my thrifty soul! Next time I'll attack the flea markets, but I do enjoy the finds I uncovered:

This is the prettiest pair of vintage suitcases I've ever seen. I found this pattern in brown and orange, but I like it best in green. I'm selling the pair as a daily deal for $20.00 if anyone's interested. They're in good shape and perfect working condition.

This cartoonerific vintage tiger coin bank called out to me from the shelves. It goes perfectly with my brand's playful aesthetic. The complimentary orange and blue makes his eyes pop with mirth! I'm letting him go for $6.00.

I normally avoid vintage cameras (for fear of taking on another terrifyingly large collection I don't have room to accommodate!) but this beauty came with a gorgeous case and instructions. It's in perfect working condition. I'm letting this vintage Chinon camera go for $18.00.

This cute owl was a flea market find from last week. It's a charming Avon "wise eyes" closet pomander, meant to be filled with fragrant wax chips and hung in the closet to keep clothes smelling fresh. It would look cute hanging from a suitcase or purse. I'm selling this little guy for $5.00.

I keep running into vintage fondue sets. I now have sets in red, yellow, and black with coordinating forks! I'm selling this set for $12.00.

This tiny vintage turtle is, on the outside, a very accurate representation of your everyday red eared slider turtle. It's the small size of turtles offered as pets at your local aquarium. We'll come back to him.

I fell in love with this adorable vintage whale planter. He's going to be a beauty filled with bright green foliage. I paid more than I usually would for this little guy so he's going to be sold for $12.00.

Crowns for your Crown Royal and coke? My love of barware attracted me to this lovely, masculine set. I'm selling the whole set for $18.00. It's strong and masculine like something you'd see in Don Draper's office.

Yuko and turtle seem to get along well enough. But does she know the strange secret turtle hides?!

Holy Hell, it's a penis turtle! Those who are compelled peer at this seemingly innocuous turtle's underbelly will be stunned by the ridiculously human phallus of the penis turtle!

  2. Oh my gawd, that turtle is hilarious!!! I found vintage "nudie cutie" ice molds once, still in the original box, for about $1 at Goodwill here in Boston. Gave them to my friend Joe for his birthday, made him blush. 4. Thanks! The Corey Lynn Calter floral print dress & the vintage Lilly Pulitzer skirt (with CAT PRINT!) were my favorite finds. And, yes, that's Shoestring's mascot/newshound, Dante, my 13-year-old Italian Greyhound/Whippet mix. If you love these guys, you'll really love this Christmas photo from our 2004 holiday shoot: http://www.shoestringmag.com/shoestring-magazine-newsletter/barking-deals-group-buying-gone-dogs Also, if you're on Instagram, I'm @Stealfinder - post pics of him pretty much daily (along with all my thrifting adventures :)

  11. I was just in that area this weekend. Beach Blvd is ridiculously overpriced. I like a couple places there, but most are so high so no deals are found.I gave up and went to MBK. I always find something there.

    1. I need to go check out MBK tomorrow with a thrift list in hand, they have everything! And yep, the Beach Blvd thrifts seem to be getting pricier, especially certain stores, but there is a long cluster of them, convienient for when you're looking for something in particular.
