This weekend I embarked on a Thrift Store Adventure up-and-down Jacksonville's Beach Boulevard. I intended to ransack all of the stores on the lengthy road, but had to stop after two stores. The high thrift store prices assaulted my thrifty soul! Next time I'll attack the flea markets, but I do enjoy the finds I uncovered:
This is the prettiest pair of vintage suitcases I've ever seen. I found this pattern in brown and orange, but I like it best in green. I'm selling the pair as a daily deal for $20.00 if anyone's interested. They're in good shape and perfect working condition.
This cartoonerific vintage tiger coin bank called out to me from the shelves. It goes perfectly with my brand's playful aesthetic. The complimentary orange and blue makes his eyes pop with mirth! I'm letting him go for $6.00.
I normally avoid vintage cameras (for fear of taking on another terrifyingly large collection I don't have room to accommodate!) but this beauty came with a gorgeous case and instructions. It's in perfect working condition. I'm letting this vintage Chinon camera go for $18.00.
This cute owl was a flea market find from last week. It's a charming Avon "wise eyes" closet pomander, meant to be filled with fragrant wax chips and hung in the closet to keep clothes smelling fresh. It would look cute hanging from a suitcase or purse. I'm selling this little guy for $5.00.
I keep running into vintage fondue sets. I now have sets in red, yellow, and black with coordinating forks! I'm selling this set for $12.00.
This tiny vintage turtle is, on the outside, a very accurate representation of your everyday red eared slider turtle. It's the small size of turtles offered as pets at your local aquarium. We'll come back to him.
I fell in love with this adorable vintage whale planter. He's going to be a beauty filled with bright green foliage. I paid more than I usually would for this little guy so he's going to be sold for $12.00.
Crowns for your Crown Royal and coke? My love of barware attracted me to this lovely, masculine set. I'm selling the whole set for $18.00. It's strong and masculine like something you'd see in Don Draper's office.
Yuko and turtle seem to get along well enough. But does she know the strange secret turtle hides?!
Holy Hell, it's a penis turtle! Those who are compelled peer at this seemingly innocuous turtle's underbelly will be stunned by the ridiculously human phallus of the penis turtle!
It's ALL for Sale: Simply send me an e-mail if you see anything you'd like to buy in these posts. I give you the lowest prices possible when I sell them through the blog and share super thrifty daily deals on Facebook and Twitter!

Well HELLO Mr. Turtle. How odd-
ReplyDeleteGreat score this week, loving the whale!
Me too, I'll be tempted to keep him for myself once it's filled with a plant.
DeleteOh my gawd, that turtle is hilarious!!! I found vintage "nudie cutie" ice molds once, still in the original box, for about $1 at Goodwill here in Boston. Gave them to my friend Joe for his birthday, made him blush. Also posted my most recent $100 thrifted fashion haul over at Shoestring: http://www.shoestringmag.com/shopping/thank-goodwill-its-friday-100-thrift-haul Love your thrift share posts, read them every week! ~M
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and reading along, I love the floral print dress- and is that a gray Italian greyhound? I want one of those, too ;)
DeleteHigh thrift store prices are my nemesis!
DeleteAgreed, Megan. I definitely must attack the local flea markets with their lower prices this week.
DeleteThanks! The Corey Lynn Calter floral print dress & the vintage Lilly Pulitzer skirt (with CAT PRINT!) were my favorite finds. And, yes, that's Shoestring's mascot/newshound, Dante, my 13-year-old Italian Greyhound/Whippet mix. If you love these guys, you'll really love this Christmas photo from our 2004 holiday shoot: http://www.shoestringmag.com/shoestring-magazine-newsletter/barking-deals-group-buying-gone-dogs Also, if you're on Instagram, I'm @Stealfinder - post pics of him pretty much daily (along with all my thrifting adventures :)
DeleteCuuute! Thanks for sharing. So jealous you own such a precious creature. I'm partial to whippets, too. I like their big black eyes and pointy faces.
DeleteGreat finds. I found a frog with a penis at GW. They make the female version.
ReplyDeleteHa! And I thought it was some odd homemade piece made by someone with too much time and imagination...
DeleteI love the barware!
ReplyDeleteMe too :) I need to stick it in the shop today, I hope it does well!
DeleteWow! Even for just hitting 2 stores, you ended up with a lot. I like the suitcases.
ReplyDeleteI scooped the suitcases up in a heartbeat, truly a lucky find! And imagine how much vintage I'd have if I hit up all of the stores? Oh my!
DeleteNot going to lie, the penis turtle blew my mind. I'm sure he's quite pleased with himself.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! :D
DeleteAwesome haul, Van. I'm still confused by the all-too-human looking anatomy on that turtle. I don't get it.... lol. Hilarious
ReplyDelete<3 Jackie @ Let's Go Thrifting!
And I'm being told there's a vagina turtle, too. I wonder how they managed to pull that off!
DeleteHa!! I'd say that turtle is the MOST sexy of the finds.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed ;)
Deleteokay that turtle is ridiculously funny. HA! love the suitcases and i love the way you've hung artwork in that photo - what a great way to use pant hangers. i'm going to have to steal that idea!
ReplyDeleteI love doing that all over the place, it's a fun way to display my favorite art prints. Especially when you mix it up with matted/framed stuff for the hi/lo affect :)
DeleteThis is how much I don't pay attention, lol. When I glanced at the turtle,I thought that was a place for a key. It's only when I read the word "penis" that I had to take a second look.
ReplyDeleteHa! :) It does look like an innocent place to store keys to the innocent minded...
DeleteI was just in that area this weekend. Beach Blvd is ridiculously overpriced. I like a couple places there, but most are so high so no deals are found.I gave up and went to MBK. I always find something there.
ReplyDeleteI need to go check out MBK tomorrow with a thrift list in hand, they have everything! And yep, the Beach Blvd thrifts seem to be getting pricier, especially certain stores, but there is a long cluster of them, convienient for when you're looking for something in particular.
DeleteLove the suitcases! My mom actually has two turtles just like that.. Except one is a fully "equipped" female, haha :)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how they pulled off the female turtle!
DeleteHAHAHA! Bitchin penis turtle, doood!
ReplyDeleteUGH. UGH!!!! I want both suitcases AND the owl. SERIOUSLY! I can not justify any more suitcase purchases. But looking at those hurts. my. soul. Those are cute as mothereff and I want them.
The only way I let 'em go is knowing I will encounter many more in my career of reselling. I'll have the pictures to remember them by, at least...
DeleteYou're taking me back to my childhood with the fondue set and the floral suitcase! The wonder years!
ReplyDeleteI love the finds that bring back fond childhood memories!
DeleteYou had me at penis turtle. Don't get me wrong, the whale planter is awesome and the suitcases are adorable, and I love the little owl, but not it's not every day you see a penis turtle!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, ma'am. Agreed!
Deletelol the turtle is crazy! I love the suitcases so vintage pretty! thanks for joining us at cap creations.
ReplyDeleteThanks! and no prob ;)
Deletelol...gut busting at the thought of that innocent little green turtle having such a story to tell. Wouldn't a camera in your booth be perfect to catch people's reactions as they turn him over. So so funny.
